about
hello,
I’m bruno
I'm a landscape photographer and licensed guide, born and raised in Praia da Vitória, on Terceira.
My work is rooted in one place: nine volcanic islands in the middle of the Atlantic that I have been exploring with a camera since 2005.
From music to photography
My journey didn't start with a camera, it started with music. Inspired by my father and older brother, I spent my teenage years playing the electric bass. Music taught me rhythm, patience and timing. Years later, walking these islands, I found the same feeling behind a lens.
Shaped by the islands
Living in the middle of the Atlantic changes the way you see. The weather turns in minutes, the light never repeats, and you learn to wait for it. That patience, and knowing where to wait, is at the heart of my work.
More than photography
I lead small group photo tours and workshops across the Azores. As a local, I offer more than GPS coordinates to a pretty view. I take people to the right places at the right moment, and share the food, the culture and the rhythm of island life that most visitors never get to see.

When I got my first drone, very few people were flying over these islands. Suddenly I could show the Azores from angles nobody had seen before: the patterns of the fields, the shape of the craters, the coastlines from above. Those images travelled far, and they became a big part of how many people first discovered the Azores.
Since then, my work has been published in Here Not There: 100 Unexpected Travel Destinations, a National Geographic travel book by Andrew Nelson (2024), and used in international campaigns. I have also created photo guides for Terceira, São Miguel, Flores, Corvo, Graciosa and Madeira, built from years of scouting, for photographers who want to explore on their own.
