Happy Birthday Blog! Hoje o meu blog faz 4 anos

Acho que a principal razão de ter criado um blog, para além de poder partilhar o meu trabalho com o mundo, foi o facto de ter que postar conteúdos novos. Isso fez com que tivesse que sair de casa (mesmo em dias sem vontade) e fotografar o máximo possível. Não podia deixar o blog durante muito tempo sem atualizações.

Ainda hoje quando faço boas fotografias, não vejo a hora de poder mostrar o trabalho aqui.

Confesso que também durante estes 4 anos, gostaria de ter feito muito muito mais, principalmente nas épocas de Verão, que fico perto de um mês sem qualquer novidade. Posso culpar o trabalho, mas tem de haver sempre tempo para fotografar.

Este ano quero que seja diferente, espero poder evoluir e partilhar com vocês trabalhos novos regularmente. Essa vai ser uma das metas para 2012.

See Ya Later 2011!

Feliz Ano Novo! Espero que 2012 traga algo maravilhoso a vocês, e que esta crise passe o mais depressa possível. Estou farto de ver sempre a mesma coisa na TV.

Mudei novamente o look do meu site.

Sempre gostei de um design simples e branco, e com o outro tema não era possível criar esse efeito. Outro aspeto que gosto é o facto de quem visita a página pela primeira vez tem de imediato uma noção do tipo de fotografia que faço, não é necessário entrar em menus à procura de portfólios ou galerias, muito nice mesmo.

Hey guys!

Sorry for not posting in a long long time.

Here are some of the highlights of the work I have been doing.

First, our photo walk to the Bays of Agualva was canceled halfway through due to heavy rain. Some bad luck, but we hope that the next one to be much better.

The last photography workshop went very well, the participants were the best you can have! On the last day, the whole group was capable of understanding how a digital camera captures images, its features, and also overcome difficult challenges, as moving subjects or high contrast scenes.

Along with Ruben Tavares and Timothy Lima, we are photographing for a book project, some of the beneficiaries of the program towards the rural development of the Azores. It has not been an easy task. At São Jorge island, I spent two days photographing farmers in the rain, I got completely soaked.

Among the people I photographed, there was one that impressed me the most, an entrepreneur with 91 years of age, yeah 91. He focused on processing soybeans to convert it into soy milk, tofu and jam. Truly a great example to follow…

Next Friday, again with Ruben and Timmy, we will photograph the royal “entourage” of Sanjoaninas. Its gonna be a lot of fun!

For those unaware, the harbor of Faial Island (pictured above) is the fourth most visited in the world.

I created this blog 2 years ago to share my images and my experiences in the world of photography.

Now that 2010 is a thing of the past, I thought I would write down some highlights from the past year, regarding my photography and my personal life. This is my first post writing in english, so I apologize for any spelling mistakes.

I think the most important thing I did last year was create an account on Facebook. I know you are thinking I’m nuts but sharing my work with a community so large opened so many doors that my photography have grown in a way that I could not imagined compared to 2009. I sold my first prints and I was a part in a photographic project with Ruben Tavares and Timothy Lima around the Azores, photographing our culture and the beautiful landscapes Azores has to offer. I was in paradise, getting paid to photograph and travel around the islands, was simply amazing.

I bought some new gear too. The new Canon 70-200 2,8IS II has become my workhorse lens, the images that I take with it are simply gorgeous and the IS really works, it helps allot when travelling by boat or in low light conditions. I’m now a Mac user, I sold all my PC gear and bought Apple products. I started with the iPhone then a MacBook Pro and also a MacBook for my wife… I know I know I lost my mind! Hehe. Today my main machine is a Mac Pro 2010 3.2Ghz with 16GB ram, 60GB SSD for boot and apps and 3 TB of storage plus a Apple LED 24” Cinema display.

I also created Estúdio9 with some friends. It’s an Art’s Association about photography, video, multimedia, music, design, visual arts, literature and also imaging and aesthetics, its main purpose is to create the opportunity to develop and expand these areas with workshops, lectures, expeditions and other activities that contributes in the participation in cultural life.

It was time to change my blog. With the help of Ruben Tavares I learned how to create my own website with the design I wanted, it was a great moment for me to have a brunoazera.com

Recently I was invited to a live TV show to talk about democratization of digital photography, it was a pleasant experience that I hope to have the opportunity repeat.

I would like to thank all my friends and family that contributed to all of this and for rocking every weekend at Blues Bar!!! Without you guys it would not have been possible, specially my wife Sandra for being there for me…
